FOILING Foiling is the process of mirror coating jewellery stones to obtain optimum brilliance. Below is the type of foiling available: Foiled - A silver mirror coated with a newly developed, platinum colored, protective layer. M Foiled - An aluminium mirror, applied using a vacuum coating process. SI - Silicium Foiled EFFECTS Surface Effects - Normal vacuum coating processapplied to the top of the stone. The hematite coating is only possible on Jet. Below are types of surface effects: AB - Aurore Boreale, CAL - Comet Argent Light, DOR - Dorado, GLBL - Glacier Blue, HEM - Hematite, METBL - Metallic Blue, METSI - Metallic Silver, NUT - Nut, SAT - Satin, TRAN - Transmission Translucent Effects - Special vacuum coating process applied to the back of the stone and visible through the crystal. Below are types of translucent effects: BBL - Bermuda Blue, HEL - Heliotrope, MBL - Meridian Blue, SAG - Sage, SBL - Sky Blue, STS - Star Shine, TAB - Tabac, VL - Vitrail Light, VM - Vitrail Medium, VOL - Volcano Additional Effects - Listed Below are additional effects. V - Vacuum Coated - The vacuum coating process is applied to the opposite side of the stone (e.g. CAL V on the back; VM V on the front). Z -Only a part of the stone is vacuum coated (e.g. Crystal Helio Z). B -Three surfaces of a cube are vacuum coated. (e.g. VM B) 2x -Both sides of the stone are vacuum coated. (e.g. Crystal AB 2x) Cosmojet- This is a special coating, which makes it possible to blacken certain parts of the stone's surface. This effect is only available on selected articles. Frosted - This describes a matt finish on ajewellery stone, which is achieved by a mechanical process and is only possible on flat backs.Matt Finish - A chemical process is applied to the surface of the stone to achieve a matt finish. Matt finishing can only be achieved on SS stones. The dimensions of all other articles may vary if a matt finish effect is used. HOTFIX - "Hotfix" is the glue on the back of Flat Back crystals. This highly flexible glue is activated at temperatures between 120 and 170ºC and bonds with the carrier material. As the glue cools, the crystal components are securely and permanently fixed to the carrier material. HOTFIX TRANSPARENT - "Hotfix Transparent" is the Swarovski Hotfix glue with a patented, transparent primer. The use of "Hotfix Transparent" with non-mirror-coated Flat Back crystals produces an innovative "raindrop effect", as the crystals take on the color of the carrier material. |
